About us

When the Cabrera Arroyo family converted their home into Casa de las Bugambilias B&B, Mariana saw the need of having a home of her own, where she could enjoy her family and friends. A great opportunity arose when she discovered a modest 1950's home just one block away from Bugambilias. The home required lots of love and imagination; where others saw too daunting a task, Mariana saw potential. She inmediately knew that she had found not a new home for herself but rather a new home for her beloved guests. It took six months of dreaming and six months of toil to turn Emilia's home into this private and intimate B&B located in the best spot in the city, literally across the street from the legendary Santo Domingo Church and the beautiful Ethnobotanical Gardens. El Secreto is a cozy urban oasis with four bedrooms, private patios and a massage area. The two larger rooms are furnished with either a king size bed or two twin beds. The smaller room is furnished with a queen sized bed. All of the rooms have private bathrooms and air conditioning as well as cable TV and WiFi internet access. The kitchen is fully equipped and the dining room is enhanced by an open air ceiling. A rooftop deck allows for sunbathing and relaxation as well as providing a panoramic view of the city and the surrounding mountains.
Casa de las Bugambilias, Casa de los Milagros, and El Secreto would like for you to let this Oaxacan family, now numbering 21 with half living in the U.S. and half in Oaxaca, serve you with their welcoming warmth.

The Cabrera's will continue to be a 100% Oaxacan family business and even though its roots have expanded throughout the United States it will continue with its authenticity and desire to cater to the needs of everyone who walks through their doors.  We appreciate your visit and we hope that with your help this business will remain for many years to come.

This story is not over; come let us share it with you.
